A Dance Through Fire

Alex laid back on his seat on the beach. He had only a piece of cloth on covering his private though everyone for the most part had. They had had to have found a way to live as modern day cities had collapsed after a great famine and anarchy came upon. For those who had evacuated they had not lived long, shot down by the army. He had gotten away with a group of friends before it all. Having their expenses paid by their parent's. He was only sixteen at the time however the eighteen year old had quickly become a tyrant during this peak of devastation. When other vacationers sought to rise above himself he had slit their necks only allowing those who were of peace, and friendship within his own mind to live on. Despite the anger he had received for doing such thing he was doing it to protect himself, and most of all his friend's and his own families.

Cora sighed as she looked out along the horizon, scrutinizing her eyes as they ran along the never ending ocean. It'd been almost two years since she'd come to the island with her friends, creating a sort of empire for themselves. She had to admit, while the island life was hard, it paid off in the end. Nothing was better than waking up every morning to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. She figured Finley liked it too, considering the small child was currently as relaxed as ever in her arms, which was a feat for itself. Her daughter seemed to take after both Cora's and her father's restlessness even at her young age. Spotting Alex himself a bit further down, Cora walked over and joined him in the sand. "Hey," she greeted, adjusting Finley in her lap as she squirmed a bit.

Alex glanced at her, then at the baby she held in her arms. "You couldn't have come up with a more creative name couldn't you have?" He leaned off of his make shift seat and reached out to pick up Finley looking her over.

Cora narrowed her eyes at him in frustration, crossing her arms over her chest at his comment. "I happen to like the name, thank you very much." she snapped.

Finley squirmed a bit more as she passed over and made a small, disapproving squeak.

Alex blinked and passed her back over to Cora. "You didn't even ask." He huffed and looked over at his brother who was working on the hut beneath the sun. "You'd think he'd give it a rest."

Christa rubber her eye with her left hand as she walked over to one of her friends, Cora. Throwing her arms in the air to stretch she sat down beside her ignoring the conversation between her and Alex, placing her hands in her lap she stared at her feet unintentionally.

Cora grimaced at his annoyance with her and cradled Finley against her chest. "Hey, Christa," she greeted distractedly, her eyes wandering towards Anthony as he was pointed out. "How long has he been going?"

"Since the crack of dawn. I told him the hut didn't need anymore alterations but you know Anthony." Alex responded and glanced voer at Christa then back to his daughter, and Cora.

Christa glanced up at Alex as he spoke to cora, shortly after she turned her attention to finley and held out her finger for her to grab onto. "Hi finley." Christa cooed at the little baby.

"Unfortunately." Cora mumbled sarcastically with a lightened grin. "Hey, Anthony!" she called, hoping for the boy's attention. "Take a break and come join us!"

Finley ogled at the newcomer and grasped her finger firmly, studying it with curiosity.

Anthony paused and stood over the hut soaked in sweat from working beneath the sun. He climbed down deciding it was time for a break anyway and made his way over wiping the sweat off.

Alex watched Anthony and blinked. He was pretty tall himself, but Anthony was taller than himself. He turned away and looked around.

Christa smiled at the baby as she grasped her finger. Slowly taking her eye off finley she observed the others slightly as they continued to talk.

Cora, noticing Christa's interest in Finley, offered for her friend told hold her daughter. "What're you working on that requires so much work?" she asked as Anthony joined them.

"The hut, if any strong gusts of wind from a hurricane come by I don't want to lose the entire hut." Anthony answered casually.

"You're too cautious." Alex told him.

Jacki stood nearby with her arms crossed, she couldn't believe Cora put up with Alex for so long. That girl could do so much better. Not that there was really much of a selection. To her both the Cheshire boys were hot headed and demanding. Shaking her head she leaned back against a tree and shut her eyes taking a deep breath, the island was causing her to acquire more and more headaches as the days went by. She wasn't used to being close to this many people for so long in a small area, usually she would be off on her own doing something important or worthwhile.

Sarah hummed as she skipped along the shore, she loved it here. Picking up a small rock she tossed it over the surface of the water, attempting to learn how to skip it. So far she had managed to skip one rock along the top twice, but it wasn't much considering she had known many to do it at least six times in a row. Looking back at the others she noticed they had grouped and started to talk, shrugging she sauntered over and plopped down next to Cora, giving her a tight hug.

"And you're too laid back Alex. Grow up." Anthlny answered sharply and began to walk away. He paused in front of th ocean to wash himself off of the sweat. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Jacki. One of the quieter girls who hung back just as he did from time to time. He wasn't very social himself but from time to time he could do a chat. He walked off from the beach only to loop around the inner jungle like forest and end up behind her. "Stalking isnt very nice." He commented and stepped out with crossed arms.

Jacki blinked and turned to look at him. "So why are you creeping up behind random girls?" She questioned with a scoff and rubbed her eyes. The wind often blew sand into them, this was one of the reasons she absolutely despised being here. Shaking her head she looked back up at him. "Are you done already? I don't think you have it built well enough to survive an attack from China quite yet." She teased sarcastically and nodded towards the hut.

Upon gesticulation towards the hut he rolled his eyes at her comment of its defense system. Or was she mocking his labor? "I was 'creeping' up on you because you were lingering down in the shadows thinking no one would pay any mind." He responded and began to climb a tropical tree obviously determined for something.

"And I was sitting in the shadows because I burn easily." Jacki retorted to his comment and watched him with little interest. Shaking her head she tugged at her blonde hair, it was always in the way and getting tangled up. She would cut it, however she knew once she did she would regret it. She never really liked having short hair, even if it were more manageable. "If you fall and break something I'm not helping you." She warned Anthony as she turned her attention back up to him.

"You fail to remember I'm not Alex." Anthony said curtly. Once reaching his destination he had stood up on the branch and scoffed as he looked down. "Why don't you admit it already? You've always looked up to me." A smirk had been carved into his expression.

"Only because you're freakishly tall." Jacki fired back. "I'm independent thank you, the only one I look up to is me." She said stubbornly and crossed her arms again, meeting his gaze with a glare of her own. What was with these boys? Narcissistic much?

Anthony felt a pit of amusement form in his chest as she grew hostile. She hadn't gotten the joke. He only shook his head and ripped off the banana bunch from the tree and tossed them down along with one more. He then climbed down and fixed the one piece of cloth covering the frontal view of his private.

Jacki huffed and looked away as he adjusted himself. If only there were real clothes around. Growing slightly annoyed with his presence she walked towards another tree to sit down in the sand and draw figures with a stick laying on the ground next to her.

Anthony grabbed a banana and slowly passed it to her and walked away. He picked up the bananas and brought them into storage.

Jacki took the banana and set it down beside her, continuing to aimlessly draw in the sand.
