The New Heights

Avery smirked and jumped on the table in her dining room. She didn't know how her mother did it about two years ago, she had bought a super cool big new house. Her and Aria dominated it, at least when Clair, Jane, and Brit weren't over.


Diego sat in the kitchen on his laptop working. He had grown to be a workaholic. Living alone with Ciel, Miles, Emmett, and Mia, was definitely more peaceful then when they lived in that small crowded apartment.

Aria looked at her sister in disgust. "Dude we eat up there!"

Mia followed Miles around the house, she was like his shadow ever since she could walk.

Miles looked at his eight year old sister annoyed. He himself was thirteen and didn't like to be bothered much. "Mia come on."

"Why do you talk so boyish!" Avery rolled her eyes. "Mom! Im bored!"

"What?" Mia asked innocently. She knew he was the only one that could put up with her. Emmett hated her.

"Suck it up!" Melinda called from the kitchen.

"Why do you always have to be so gross?" Aria shot back.

"Get lost Aria, nobody even wants you here." Avery growled at her sister. "Everyone would be happier if you left."

Miles sighed. "Go ask daddy for money we can go get ice cream."

"Ok!" Mia squealed and ran over to her father. "Daddy!"

"Fine!" Aria snapped and ran out of the house.

Avery watched her go and shrugged then grabbed her phone and called Jane. "Jane. Wanna come over?" She asked and walked over to her mother. "Momma can you do my nails?"

Diego turned from the computer and looked at his daughter. "What is it princess?"

"Can I have money to get ice cream with Miles?" Mia begged.

Jane shrugged. "Yeah sure, give me like twenty minutes."

Melinda stirred the pot of boiling water and noodles and nodded. "Sure, can you wait until I'm done cooking?"

"Yeah, Jane is coming over too." Avery responded. She knew what her mother was going to say already. Include Aria or no sleep over. "Aria left." She said before her mother could speak.

Diego nodded and gave her a twenty. "Behave."

"Where'd she go?" Melinda frowned and looked down at her daughter curiously.

Mia nodded and ran back over to Miles, handing him the money.

"I don't know I got mad at her and told her to go away." Avery responded. "She left the house."

Miles stuffed the money in his pocket and began to walk out with his sister. On the way he looked over at a man speaking to a girl and frowned. Should he go back and tell his dad?

Mia didn't even notice what Miles was looking at and skipped along. "Faster!" She giggled.

"Well then, Jane is only spending the night if you two go out and find her." Melinda said with a disappointed frown. "She's your sister Avery, treat her better."

"She's weird ma, she's boyish and we're not." Avery complained but walked over to the front to wait for Jane to go find her sister.

Miles watched as the girl got in the car and looked down at his sister. "Alright, yeah, ice cream." He murmured and began to make his way to the ice cream shop a bit concerned. He sat down and ordered his ice cream.

Jane walked up to Avery with a grin. "Hi."

Mia sat down with him and swung her legs as her feet didn't quite touch the floor yet. "What's wrong Miles?"

"Nothing I didn't know if they had my special ice cream." Miles responded with a shrug.

Avery smirked at her. "I told my sister to go away and now she left so we gotta go look for her."

"No way." Jane groaned.

"Liar." Mia said bluntly. "I always know when you lie Miles."

"I think a little girl got kidnapped." Miles told her quietly.

"Oh come on my mom said you can't sleep over unless we do it." Avery responded.

"What do you mean?" Mia frowned.

"Fine." Jane huffed and shoved her hands in her pockets.

"You know how dad says stay away from strangers, this girl didn't and I think he took her." Miles explained.

Avery began to walked around alongside Jane. "I don't know why she got so mad."

"Me either, my brothers always tell me to go away. Maybe it's because you are twins?" Jane shrugged.

Mia tilted her head to the side. "Well how do you know it wasn't her daddy?"

"She looked unsure." Miles responded quietly. He had always been good about picking up on little things like that.

Avery continued to look for her sister for two more hours before returning home. "Mom we can't find her."

Melinda shook her head and pulled out her phone to call Atticus.

"Let's go tell dad." Mia said quickly, hopping down from her chair.

Atticus answered his phone. "What do you want?"

"No. I mean I don't think we should." Miles said quietly.

"Is Aria with you?" Melinda asked quickly.

"Why?" Mia said appalled.

"No, I'm with my son. What happened?" Atticus asked.

"Because I don't know for sure." Miles answered.
