An Ancient Rising

Kitty spun around in her hula skirt enthusiastically and laughed. "Wow this is great." She said and looked down at the light shirt that barely covered her chest but did the job fairly. It was better than being in nothing. Looking over at her friend Cece she crouched down and touched her belly that looked like it would burst any minute. "Don't worry Cece! You're almost there!" She grinned eyeing Chase who nuzzled against her, then walked over to the somewhat annoyed Lilith who sat by a tree with crossed arms. "Hi Lil how are you doing?"

Lilith raised her gaze onto Kitty curiously. "I don't know how you're making light of this, I hate this, I miss home, I miss people, I miss my parents, I miss my cellphone, and my laptop."

"What do I do?" James groaned, laying back.

"If there was a book that explained what to do I'd show you but nothing's ever going to take back all the memories." Kitty admitted. "If you stay in her life, it'll hurt her more than you keeping your distance." She blinked. "What do you think love is?"

"I can't just leave. First, we're on an island. And second, I'm not abandoning my kid." James replied harshly. "I don't know, I've never stuck around in a relationship long enough to experience it." he admitted, thinking back to Oliver.

"It's your call." Kitty responded just as harshly. "You should've thought maybe sex with a teenage girl without a condom can mean pregnancy. She's only a kid." She got to her feet and crossed her arms. "I don't know what to tell you James. If I was in her situation I'll be honest I'd want nothing to do with the baby daddy, that's just me though, she's a completely different person."

James glared at her before getting up and stalking off.

"Oh come on don't have a fit James." Kitty scolded and waved him off before climbing her tree to sit up there and lay down on it lazily. She glanced over at Lilith and Angel who had started a fire and began to sing and dance around it. "Hey guy's you're going to fall in!" She teased.

Angel only smiled wider and continued to dance near it. "Hey! I'm good with my feet." She said and hugged Lilith affectionately nuzzling against her.

Lilith giggled a bit and looked up at Kitty while she danced with her best friend hugging her back. "There's nothing to be sad about here! I'm happy here!"

James retreated deep into the forest before climbing up into a tree, where he sat on the highest branch and leaned against the trunk. From here, he could see out over the canopy of trees to the slowly darkening sky and ocean. Sighing, he brought his knees to his chest and rested his chin on them. "Anthony." he called out, annoyed.

"What up man?" Anthony asked suddenly sitting beside him with his hands behind his head.

"When is this going to be over?" James asked sourly.

"I can't tell you." Anthony said and pat his back lightly. "Keep your head up. I think you should be getting back soon." He suggested.

Cece ventured over far into the forest panting heavily as she felt contractions. Once far enough in she slid her back against a tree and slowly took off her underwear and pants and shut her eyes tightly. Now wasn't the time to be scared.

James ignored his suggestion. "Is Ben alright?"

"Yes he's well. Stressed but well." Anthony responded and looked over at the setting sun. "As any father would be. Protecting his family is no walk in the park."

Cece tilted her head back and grit her teeth crying in pain. She parted her lips and let out an agonized wail having gotten far enough away from the camp not to be heard by any of the other girls.

James looked around as he heard a scream. "You've got to be fucking kidding me." he cursed, climbing back to the ground.

Anthony watched him go carefully before disappearing.

Cece sobbed and let out another small wail and pushed as another pain struck her body. This was going to be harder than she thought.

James ran through the forest until he reached Cece, kneeling down beside her. He then paused in shock and blinked.

"I can't do it." Cece panted barely looking at him. "It hurts, I can't do it." She repeated attaching herself to him.

James stammered unsurely. "Push." he offered weakly.

"I can't!" Cece shouted back at him but had no other choice when she felt another abrupt contraction take over her body. She cried a bit louder this time. "I'm going to die, I'm gonna die." She whimpered.

"You have to push." James repeated, grabbing her hand. "Please. For Jett."

As a final sharp pain coursed through her body she cried out loud before falling back and panting heavily. As the wailing of an infant became clear to her she slowly picked up the newborn and hugged him to her.

James blinked and sat back, staring at the child.

Cece looked down at him and wiped his face gently in awe. She couldn't believe the sudden natural instinct of protection that overwhelmed her.

Jett wailed loudly, flailing around.

Cece rested him on her chest as she leaned back and shut her eyes worn from the moment.

Jett continued to cry.

James continued to stare.
